Asymmetric soup spoon carving template
A deep, wide soup spoon with a slanted lip for sipping from the side rather than the tip, so soup goes in your mouth rather than down your chin. A short cove behind the neck gives your thumb a place to rest. This version is for right-handed use.
The PDFs print dark lines on white paper: the A4 one in millimetres, the US Letter one in inches. Open the design in the designer to change the size or shape first. The downloaded SVG opens again in the designer with Open.

It fits at full size on both A4 and US Letter. Print at 100% scale with no margins, then check the scale bar on the sheet with a ruler.
Carving tips
Thin the lip the most, and leave the opposite wall a bit thicker for strength. The depth needs a thick blank or a slightly curved piece, and a hook knife makes hollowing much easier. Test it with water as you go: you'll soon feel where the lip needs to be thinner.
Cut out the top view and trace it on the blank with the grain running along the spoon, as the grain arrow shows. Saw the outline, then draw the side view on the side of the blank for the depth and crank, and carve away everything outside the lines. Read more in How it works.
