Asymmetric serving spoon carving template
A big serving spoon with a slanted bowl that leans away from an S-curved handle, so it scoops from the side of a dish while your hand stays clear of the rim. A hole at the end of the handle lets it hang on a hook. This version is for right-handed use.
The PDFs print dark lines on white paper: the A4 one in millimetres, the US Letter one in inches. Open the design in the designer to change the size or shape first. The downloaded SVG opens again in the designer with Open.

It fits on A4 at full size. The US Letter PDF and the designer shorten it to 237 mm (9.3 in), the longest that fits. Print at 100% scale with no margins, then check the scale bar on the sheet with a ruler.
Carving tips
The sideways sweep needs a wide blank, so check the minimum blank size below before you start. Choose a piece where the grain follows the curve of the handle, for example from just below a side branch. Keep the neck strong, as a big spoon takes the most strain there.
Cut out the top view and trace it on the blank with the grain running along the spoon, as the grain arrow shows. Saw the outline, then draw the side view on the side of the blank for the depth and crank, and carve away everything outside the lines. Read more in How it works.
