Thumb rest spoon carving template
An all-round eating spoon with a blunt, rounded bowl and a short cove behind the neck where your thumb finds its place. A small hanging hole near the end of the handle lets it hang on a hook.
The “Thumb Rule” template on A4, at full size: top view, side view, grain direction and a scale check to measure after printing.

Carving tips
The blunt tip makes it a good spoon for porridge and stews, where you scoop rather than sip. Drill the hole before you carve the handle to its final thickness, so the wood around it can't split.
Cut out the top view and trace it on the blank with the grain running along the spoon, as the grain arrow shows. Saw the outline, then draw the side view on the side of the blank for the depth and crank, and carve away everything outside the lines. Read more in How it works.
